Alysha Shugart is a Science Operations Specialist at Gemini South. It is her job to operate the telescope or take astronomical data with different instruments, assist astronomers, and analyze the data. She works on many different aspects of observing with the massive Gemini South telescope. She has recently taken a role at the Vera C. Rubin observatory as the inaugural Observing Specialist, where she will work with project systems scientists and the commissioning team to bring the telescope online.
