Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO), a program of the NOIRLab, is a complex of astronomical telescopes and instruments located in the remote foothills of the Andes mountains in Chile. The star of CTIO is the 4.0-meter Blanco telescope which features the Dark Energy Camera (DECam), a high-performance, wide-field CCD imager built to carry out the Dark Energy Survey. Learn from Juan Seguel, Education & Engagement Specialist, about the history of CTIO, the international collaboration that keeps it running, the various jobs that contribute to the science here, and some of the biggest discoveries that the telescopes on the mountain have enabled.
